Mparntwe Urgent Care Clinic provides bulk-billed* urgent medical attention for all people in Alice Springs with an illness or injury that can be managed without a trip to the emergency department, but cannot wait for a regular appointment with a GP.
This service is for non-Aboriginal and Aboriginal people requiring urgent care.

Chronic disease management
Prenatal care
Earaches, colds, fevers
Muscle aches and pains
Minor burns, cuts and wounds
Non-venomous insect and animal bites
Seek Urgent Care for:
Minor burns, cuts and wounds
Minor infections, injuries or irritations
Sprains and fractures (Xray available onsite)
Non-venomous insect and animal bites
Removal of foreign objects from body
Vomiting and diarrhoea
Feverish or unwell children of recent onset
Other non-life threatening but urgent needs
Call 000 for:
Chest pain
Warning signs of stroke, including altered sensation in face, arms and legs
Severe bleeding or bleeding that doesn’t stop
Severe shortness of breath
Vehicle or industrial accidents
Poisoning
Complicated bone fractures
Major illness
Head injuries with loss of consciousness
Suicide attempts or thoughts
You should still continue to see your usual doctor or GP during their open hours for chronic disease management, health preventative measures and other health matters that aren’t urgent.
You should access the Urgent Care Clinic when medical care is needed outside GP working hours, or if you are unable to secure a timely appointment with your GP.

Bulk billed services are available to all Medicare card holders in need of urgent medical care.
Escalation of care requiring transport using St John’s Ambulance may incur third-party fees.
Overseas tourists without Medicare eligibility can access services but will be required to pay a fee for service.
Only walk-in patients are accepted at the Urgent Care Clinic. Details can be registered through HotDoc in advance with indicative triage times only. To receive care, patients must present at the clinic during open hours.

Who can use this service?
Any person who has an urgent but not life-threatening illness or injury can access Urgent Care. This includes Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people and non-Medicare card holders, however Non-Medicare card holders will be required to pay for services.
Is it free?
